Rubicon based TLT Tuber

This tuber is based on the HPI Jeep Rubicon body, although less than half of this body will be used.

The chassis is made from 3/16" brake line.  I usually have more build shots, but this one is going so quickly, this is the first pic I took!

This chassis should be done tomorrow, 11-12-2006

Here is an update after another couple hours slaving away.

Another at same point, but with the cut up body mocked up.

Still need to do shock mounts and a couple small detail pieces, I want it to look like a Jeep even without the body at all.

I accidentally screwed up the top of the windshield when I was trimming the body.  That sucks, may have to replace it.

Got the rest of the chassis completed, just need to add the shock hoops and the means to attach the body.

The belly pan slips in-between a set of tubes at the bottom and is screwed into place through nuts brazed to the chassis.

Tube work is done, working on link mounting...

Rear shock mount hoops.  I added some strengthening points in later pics.

Front shock "hoops".  They look nice and aggressive popping out through the body.

I think the best option for adjustability will be to include TLT links mounts that can be mounted anywhere on the belly pan that they need to be.  I'll include stainless hex head button screws to mount them.

I suggest mounting upper and lower links at the same point, seems to work pretty well.

I attached nuts to the shock mount locations and made some blank plates that can be drilled as needed to mount the shocks.  They are shown mounted to the outside of the hoops, but they could be mounted on the inside as well, whatever suites the needs.

Blank belly pan, blank shock mounts, blank-mount links mounts.  This chassis should meet the requirements for whatever setup you want.

Per request, I added some braces, put it in primer, and it is on it's way to Kentucky.
